Anomalies in the Washington Double Star Catalog.

All of the stars in this list are there because other catalogs could not verify them.

The first line gives the column headers.

Font colors:

• Yellow indicates a star that other catalogs have listed, but the magnitudes of the star(s) found by the other catalogs differ by 1.5 mv from that listed by the Washington Double Star Catalog (WDS), usually indicating that the star is that much fainter than the primary WDS star.
  
• Orange indicates a questionable star, not found by the other catalogs, but one that has been flagged as neglected or noted by the WDS.
  
• Red indicates a star that has NOT been found by the other catalogs but is listed by the WDS. It has not been noted in the WDS.

Discoverer: The WDS transliteration of the original discoverer's catalog title and item number.

WDS Id: The WDS identifier for the star, which are also its low precision J2000 coordinates.

A-Bmv: The visual magnitudes of the primary and secondary stars as given by the WDS.

J2000 Coordinates: The position of the star on 2000 January 1.

Notes: Clicking on the green text in the notes field will bring up a new tab which lists any WDS comments about the star, and a table of stars within 30" of the WDS position found in the other catalogs.

• The columns in this table list:
  
  • Catalog: The catalog the data came from
  • J2000 coordinates: The star's position on 2000 Jan 1
  • Catalog Id: The catalog's designation for this star.
  • mv: The Apparent magnitude of the star, according to this catalog.
  • The delta column in this tab gives the distance in arc seconds of the catalog star and the WDS coordinates. Red numbers indicate that the distance is greater than 2 arc seconds, indicating that the catalog star is probably not the WDS binary.
• A red "No entries found" entry indicates that there were no catalog entries within 30" of the WDS coordinates.

Errors: The errors found by the WDS catalog about the star.

• No mvb indicates that the WDS has no magnitude estimate for the secondary star in the pair.
• Swapped mv indicates that the WDS visual magnitude for the secondary is brighter than that of the primary.
• Low Precision indicates that the WDS precise coordinates for the star are not given.
• No date indicates that the WDS has no dates when the star was observed.
• No pa indicates that the WDS has no position angle for the star.
• Dubious indicates that the WDS suspects that the star is single or otherwise mismarked.
• K band mv indicates that the WDS magnitude is the star's infrared K band magnitude.
• Poor Id indicates that the WDS is not sure that this is the right star.
• No separation indicates that the WDS has no separation angle for the star.
• No observations indicates that the WDS has no count of the number of observations of the star.
• A number followed by "mvErr" indicates that the catalog(s) mv is more than 1.5mv from the WDS mv.

Id vs J2000: This is the difference between the WDS J 2000 coordinates and the WDS ID, in arc seconds. As the latter is only good to 1/10 minutes of right ascension (= 90 arc seconds), differences less than that are shown in yellow, but those greater than 90" are shown in red.
