Explanation of the columns in the WDS binaries vs their UCAC5 counterparts list.

WDS primary J2000 The J2000 coordinates of the primary star of the WDS binary. The coordinates are formatted such that they can be copied into tools such as Aladin or WikiSky to display the DSS image at that location.

WDS Id is a 10 digit string that lists a low precision coordinate of the pair.

Dsc Id gives the discoverer's initials or designator, and the number of the pair in their published list.

A mv is the visual magnitude of the primary. Other bandpasses for a pair are described in the notes column.

B mv is the visual magnitude of the secondary.

θ the most recent position angle of the pair, in degrees.

ρ the most recent separation of the pair, in arc seconds.

The date in the columns above are taken from the WDS.

A U5 mv the UCAC5 magnitude of the primary.

B U5 mv the UCAC5 magnitude of the secondary.

U5 θ The position angle based on the UCAC5 star's positions. If the pair's UCAC5 position angle is different from the WDS position angle by more than 10° it's shown in yellow, more than 20° in red.

U5 ρ The separation of the UCAC5 stars in arc seconds. If the pair's UCAC5 separation is different from the WDS separation by more than a factor of 1.5, it's shown in yellow, more than 2.0, in red.
